How to make a payment on Safepay Checkout 2.0

Safepay Checkout 2.0 is the upgraded version of our previous checkout, crafted with a singular focus: to make the payment process effortless for customers. Our goal is to reduce clicks and ensure transactions are completed smoothly and in no time.

Key features of Checkout 2.0:

- Customers can now securely access their saved card details and complete payments with a simple email OTP, speeding up future transactions for a seamless experience.

- Merchants can effortlessly pass along customer information, such as billing addresses, so customers don’t need to re-enter these details during checkout.

Why a payment can fail

Your online payment can fail for certain reasons. You may have:

  • Insufficient money in your bank account
  • Entered incorrect details/information in the payment checkout
  • Your bank can block an e-commerce transaction. Certain banks require you to enable e-commerce services through your bank account. If your payment fails using your bank account, please contact your bank to enable e-commerce services on your account.

Normally, you only need to follow these steps to complete your transaction using Safepay Checkout from your merchant's website:

Step 1: Click on the Safepay Checkout button

Step 2: Enter your email

If your email isn’t already populated in the email field, please enter the primary email address you want to use for the transaction. This will also be the email you use to save your card, so choose one you frequently use.

Step 3: Enter your phone number

If your phone number isn’t already populated in the phone number field, please select the country where your number was issued and enter it without the country code.

Step 4(a): Your Safepay user account is not found

If you are a first-time user or have never saved a card with the email you entered in Step 2, you will see the following screen.

  • Enter your card number, expiry date, and CVC correctly as per your issuing bank.
  • If your billing address isn’t populated, please add the correct billing details to ensure your payment goes through

If you’d like to save your card and billing details for future use, so you don’t have to re-enter them

  • Check the Securely save my card information box after entering all your details
  • Then, create a secure password that you can use later to retrieve your card details anywhere on the Safepay network.

Step 4(b): Your Safepay user account is found

If you have previously used an email to registered and save your card with Safepay or are saving it as mentioned in Step 4(a), once you enter that email in Step 2, you will be redirected to the user flow. This means you will have the option to log in and use your saved card to make the transaction, instead of having to re-enter your card details.

The image below shows the pop-up you will see if your account is found with the email you entered.

If you wish to use your saved card to make this transaction instead of re-entering your card details,

  • Enter the login password you set in Step 4(a) to access your saved card.
  • Alternatively, click on Send OTP to email to receive an OTP in case you have forgotten your password or prefer not to use it. You will have 60 seconds before you can request a new OTP.

Once you have logged into your account, you can choose to pay with any of your saved cards. Select one of the cards listed and click the Pay button at the bottom. You can save a maximum of five cards. If you want to add a new card, you can choose to Add payment method.

You will then be directed to a 3D Secure screen, where you can enter the OTP to complete your transaction successfully.

If you ever wish to delete your saved card, simply click on the vertical ellipses to remove it.

You can log out of your account at any time. If you choose not to, you will remain logged in for 24 hours, making it convenient to transact with Safepay again.
