What happens to Safepay Charges and Taxes when I issue a refund?
Safepay Charges and applicable Taxes on the original Transaction remain payable by the Merchant when that Transaction is refunded. The Customer receives the full refund amount. Safepay recovers this full amount (including the Safepay Charges and applicable Taxes) from the Merchant’s future settlements. If sufficient settlement funds are unavailable, Safepay may issue a written demand, and the Merchant must pay the outstanding amount within three Business Days.
No separate refund fee is being charged. Safepay’s charges and applicable taxes relate to processing the original Transaction.

Safepay aims to keep its pricing simple and transparent. Our standard charges support the costs involved in processing Transactions and providing services such as payment acceptance, fraud monitoring, reporting, settlement and payment-management tools. These costs are incurred when the original Transaction is processed. To continue providing these services as part of our standard pricing, Safepay Charges and applicable Taxes on the original Transaction remain payable even if the Transaction is later refunded.
